Choosing a Nuans Name
Three Elements of a Nuans Name:
There are three elements to a corporate name, two of which you need for a Nuans Report, the third you will be asked for when submitting your business name to Corporations Canada.
They are the distinctive element and the descriptive element. The third, the legal element, is only required when you are submitting the documentation for incorporation.
* Distinctive Element:
The distinctive element identifies the most significant part of proposed business name and assists in the name search.
An example: Proposed Corporate Name: Maple Leaf Automotive
Distinctive element: Maple Leaf
* Descriptive Element:
A descriptive element categorizes your business according to its type of business activity.
An example: Proposed Corporate Name: Fairchild
Business activity: Software development
* Legal Element:
Legal elements are not required for a Nuans Report and do not ‘count’ as descriptors for a Nuans search. You will however, be required to select a legal designator when you are submitting your name to Corporations Canada.
Example of legal elements: Inc, Incorporated, Corp, Corporation, Ltd and Limited
